<text>AGAIN QUARANTINE DETENTION HOUSE
Fifty children, Nurses and Attendants Affected by Discovery of Scarlet Fever
SECOND IN TWO MONTHS
For the second time in less than two months the House of Detention has been quarantined because of scarlet fever among children there.
The ban, which applies from the second floor up, will be in effect until December 12. Fifty children, several nurses and a number of attendants are affected by the quarantine. A cat and a dog, the latter named "Jerry," are also interned.
Late yesterday afternoon three boys who appeared to be suffering heavy colds were received in the house. They are Richard Walsh, fifteen, 328 N. 11th st.; Joseph Kelly, colored, thirteen, 4127 Ludlow st., and Alfred Barnes, colored, 413 S. 21st st.
They were taken to the Philadelphia General Hospital to be treated for colds. There an examination revealed they were suffering from scarlet fever and they were sent to Municipal Hospital at 2d [sic] and Luzerne sts.
An examination of the other children was made. No symptoms were found, but the quarantine was placed in effect.
According to an official, the three boys had come in contact with the fever germs before coming there, and it was not believed any of the others would contract the disease.
The Juvenile Court, which is in the House of Detention, will be help in the Domestic Relation Court, 21st and Race sts., while the ban is in effect.</text>
